Understand More About The Responsinet Solution

According to some estimates the cost to the UK economy of staff using social networking sites is nearly £30billion a year.  The amount in Europe could be £100billion and up to $500billion in America.

Employers can bar internet usage, or block access to websites – but this can break down employee trust.  A total ban on employees accessing Facebook, MySpace or Bebo at work is an “over reaction” the TUC has warned.  In addition use of social networking sites can be useful as employees extend their contact base.

Employers can monitor individual’s internet usage on the central server or with software designed for this purpose– but this is invasive and breaks down trust with employees.

Employers can allow unrestricted access to social networking sites – but this will cost your business substantial sums as employees accidentally drift into disrupted work patterns and spend more time on the internet than they realize.

Responsinet can pay for itself in weeks – but don’t take our word for it – open up our ROI indicator, see how much excessive web usage could be costing you, and how much a small investment in this solution could save you.

How It Works

  1. Staff have a small add in to their web browser.
  2. We keep a list of the major websites which are least appropriate to work and which are taking most time up in businesses.   Your organisation can add or remove websites from this list.
  3. Staff are not barred from these sites - but if daily, weekly or monthly times spent on them exceeds certain thresholds the browser add in will notify them - the more time they spend on these sites the "warmer" the indicator gets.
  4. Staff are then in a position to tell whether this is appropriate use - for work purposes or in their own time, or whether they are perhaps spending more time than they realised on these internet sites.  If necessary staff can modify their behaviour accordingly - Using Repsonsinet will make it less likely that your business will have to bar internet usage, suffer as a result or use more intrusive forms of web monitoring.
  5. CENTRALLY WHILST EMPLOYERS CAN SEE USAGE PATTERNS TO LISTED SITES THEY CANNOT SEE HOW EACH EMPLOYEE HAS USED THE INTERNET (UNLESS THERE IS ONLY ONE EMPLOYEE WITH RESPONSINET INSTALLED). THE OBJECTIVE IS NOT TO WATCH - IT'S TO HELP THE EMPLOYEE HELP THEMSELVES AND THE ORGANISATION THEY WORK FOR.
